This is a programme in which native-speakers of English are recruited in Sydney and sent to China to teach English oral and listening skills in universities, and high schools. Up to October 2005. Applied Sscholastics Training Centre has trained and sent more than 120 teachers to China and continues to recruit teachers for various schools and universities .(For details of qualification requirements, conditions of employment etc. see Teach in China)
China Schools Network
In February 1999, ApS TC set up its first joint venture/cooperation International Department with Liaoning No. 1 Experimental High School. These cooperations grew in number from one to more than ten, until 2005. Because of a change in Chinese government law, in 2006 this network will be set up under MacArthur Anglican School in Sydney, with a subcontract to APS TC to deliver the services.
Professional Development Programs for Teachers and Teacher Training for Non-Native Speaking Teachers
These programmes can be conducted either offshore (in this case, China) or onshore (Sydney) and are designed to upskill elementary and high school English teachers from non-English speaking countries. The courses are designed to improve the teaching methodology and English ability of non-native speakers of English and are done in cooperation with Western Sydney TAFE.
